Kevin DuBose is known as “The Video Guy”. He gives coaches and agency owners their time back by leveraging super simple videos that bring clients on autopilot.

We had the delightful opportunity to sit down with Kevin and talk about video production tips and tricks that will simplify the process of content creation. Kevin streamlines this "over-complicated" and under-utilized concept for our listeners in Pensight’s “The Coach Tribe” podcast.

If you struggle with the video production process or find it hard to get started with it, it might be because you are too scared to go on the video recording, or you don’t know what to say. Kevin’s tips will help you get more reach out of the content you have already created and teach you how to create content that will generate sales. You will also be able to use it strategically to bring more clients on autopilot.

Here is what we learned:

  1. First, remember that nobody is an expert in content creation right away. Everybody needs some time to understand the gist of video creation. There is a learning curve and that is very normal for any skill or knowledge you might start acquiring. You get better the more you do it! So, play around with the camera and editing software and see what progress you make from your first video to your tenth video. You will see remarkable results!

  1. If you are just getting started with your business, or you are making anywhere from 0k to 10K each month, you might have an urge to make video content that speaks to everybody’s minds and hearts. But it is a slippery slope. It is better to do vigorous research first and understand your audience. This way you hit specific sensitive points at first before you generalize your content for the bigger audience as your business grows.

  1. You shouldn’t post content just for the sake of posting content. Every video, picture, or text should have a strong and direct message behind it that will be easy for your audience to understand and relate to. Go to Facebook groups and ask what people are struggling with and where your help might be needed. You can then organize your content around topics you know for SURE people will be interested in. You can use the language and some keywords people use in their feedback on Facebook, Amazon book reviews, and other websites to appeal to them. See what books they are reading now, what movies they watch, and what reviews they leave on different products on Amazon. This will help you to speak to your audience in their language. They will think you know how they feel and that you can definitely help.

  1. If you already have an audience and want to get more connected to them, you can use a thought reversal technique: Make video content about things people do a certain way and teach them the better way to do them. This will help you get closer to your audience and have stronger connections. Remember, clients and personal relationships with them are what drive the business forward. Be as relatable and personable as possible when communicating with them through any sources. Video is the final product, but what comes behind it are the messaging and the communication.

  1. It might be easier to get into video creation by doing Live videos - In this case, you have more room to be your authentic self. Without script and editing, you will get better at feeling comfortable in front of the camera and a live audience. Plus, interacting with the audience will help you get immediate feedback and feel gratification from the work you do.

  1. Live videos also make other content creation processes easier. If you have an hour-long live session recorded, you can chop it up into micro-content (shorter pieces of content) for different outlets like Instagram Reels, TikTok, or Youtube Shorts.

This will save you some time, plus you will know which parts of the video sparked the most conversation, so you have a formula for successful short video content.

In the end, make sure to include Call-to-Action so people can go and watch your live session for more insights. This creates a loop that will keep people going back and forth between your content and different social media channels generating you a bigger reach, followers, and subscribers.

This way, after a while, you will have generated a “bank of content” which you can repurpose for different social media platforms. This will save you time and make your content scheduling a lot easier.

Need more convincing? This method will also give you a chance to have a day off whenever you are not feeling like recording a video for Facebook or Instagram. We all have those days!

Pro Tip: Video content is the type of content algorithms prefer on most of the different websites. Statistically, people respond to video content better than written or picture content. If you include the introduction video on your landing page, people are more likely to purchase your services.

     7. There are hundreds of pieces of  software you can try for editing your videos. One paid online software called Content Fries helps customers repurpose their long- form videos ( what they call potatoes)         into crispy bite-sized content fries. This will help you create contextual content for weeks or months ahead faster than ever before. It might be a great help if you are just starting with video content             creation, or you don’t have much time to spend learning different professional software packages.

Another option could be hiring freelancers on websites like:

Hiring a freelancer could be a hit or miss for video editing, but remember, usually you get what you pay for. There might be some hidden gems for lower prices hiding on these websites, but it is usually up to your luck to find them.

At the end of our podcast Kevin cites Grant Cardone, bestselling author of “The 10X Rule” and “If You're    Not First, You're Last”.

“If everybody in the world knew who you are and what you do, it would be amazing for your business or     whatever goal you are trying to achieve”

Awareness is what matters and that’s what the content is for. So, stop postponing content creation for    your coaching business and hit that RECORD button!
